SAN DIEGO, CA – August 31, 2026 – iGolf is excited to partner with Essen International AB, the Swedish company behind Golfmetrics, a golf performance and statistics platform built around Strokes Gained analysis. Through the partnership, Golfmetrics integrates iGolf’s industry-leading golf course mapping and GPS data into its platform, providing accurate course intelligence that supports course identification, satellite mapping, and the detailed shot-by-shot performance analysis golfers use to better understand their games.
Golfmetrics is designed around a straightforward principle: golfers improve more effectively when they understand where they are actually gaining and losing strokes. Players record their shots during a round, allowing the platform to analyze performance using Strokes Gained, a methodology that evaluates each shot relative to benchmark performance rather than relying solely on traditional statistics such as fairways hit, greens in regulation, or total putts. This gives golfers a more detailed picture of how different areas of their games contribute to scoring and helps identify the areas where improvement can have the greatest impact.
The platform extends that analysis with tools that help golfers visualize and evaluate their performance. Golfmetrics includes shot-dispersion graphs, satellite course mapping, detailed round reports, GPS and course search, and saved tee preferences, creating a connected record of where and how a golfer plays. By examining individual shots and broader performance patterns together, golfers can move beyond a traditional scorecard and develop a clearer understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies over time.
Through its partnership with iGolf, Golfmetrics gains access to a global course-data foundation spanning more than 40,000 mapped golf courses across 177 countries. iGolf’s course mapping and geospatial intelligence provide the geographic context needed to connect performance information with the golf course where it occurred. Accurate course identification, hole layouts, and mapping help Golfmetrics place individual shots and round data into meaningful spatial context, strengthening the connection between statistical analysis and actual on-course performance.
The partnership is particularly well aligned with Golfmetrics’ analytical approach. Strokes Gained is most valuable when golfers can understand not simply the final statistical result, but the shots and situations that produced it. Combining Golfmetrics’ performance analysis with iGolf’s understanding of the physical golf course creates a richer picture of each round — connecting a golfer’s decisions and shot outcomes with the environment in which those shots were played.
“Golfmetrics has built its platform around helping golfers understand what their scores alone can’t tell them. Strokes Gained provides a much deeper picture of performance, and accurate course intelligence adds important context to that analysis. We’re excited to partner with Essen International and provide the mapping foundation that helps Golfmetrics connect individual shots, course position, and performance data into insights golfers can use to better understand and improve their games,” said Ryan Kimberling, Vice President of Sales & Strategy at iGolf.
