SAN DIEGO, CA – April 13, 2026 – iGolf is excited to partner with Matchups LLC, the Atlanta-based company developing MATCHUPS, an emerging mobile golf platform focused on scoring, competition, tournaments, and interaction between golfers. Through the partnership, MATCHUPS will integrate iGolf’s industry-leading golf course mapping and GPS data into its developing platform, providing a scalable course-data foundation as the company builds a digital experience centered around bringing golfers together through competition.
MATCHUPS is being developed around the competitive and social elements of golf. A U.S. trademark application filed by Matchups LLC in March 2026 describes downloadable mobile software for tracking golf scores, organizing golf competitions, and allowing users to interact around golf-related information. The filing also covers services related to organizing and operating golf tournaments, pointing toward a platform designed to support competition ranging from rounds between individual golfers to more structured events.
Through its partnership with iGolf, MATCHUPS gains access to a global course-data foundation spanning more than 40,000 mapped golf courses across 177 countries. Accurate course identification and detailed course information provide an important infrastructure layer for a platform built around scoring and competition, allowing individual rounds and events to be connected with the specific golf courses where they take place. iGolf’s extensive international coverage also provides Matchups LLC with a scalable foundation as the product develops and potentially expands into additional markets.
The partnership represents a natural alignment between iGolf’s global course intelligence and MATCHUPS’ emerging vision for digital golf competition. Golf has always been built around matchups — between friends, teams, clubs, and competitors — and mobile technology creates new opportunities to organize and manage those experiences. By combining accurate course information with scoring, competition management, tournament functionality, and golfer interaction, MATCHUPS is developing a platform intended to make those competitive experiences easier to create and participate in.
As an early-stage platform, MATCHUPS also represents an opportunity for iGolf to provide course infrastructure during the product-development process. Rather than building and maintaining a proprietary global course database, Matchups LLC can leverage iGolf’s established mapping infrastructure while concentrating its development resources on the scoring, competition, tournament, and social functionality that differentiates its product.
“Competition is one of the things that makes golf so engaging, whether it’s a match between friends or a larger organized event. MATCHUPS is developing a platform around making those competitive experiences easier to create, manage, and share, and accurate course information provides an important foundation for that experience. We’re excited to partner with the Matchups team at this early stage and provide the course intelligence that can support the platform as it develops,” said Ryan Kimberling, Vice President of Sales & Strategy at iGolf.
