SAN DIEGO, CA – August 1, 2021 – iGolf is excited to partner with Rapsodo, a global sports technology company and one of the most recognized names in golf launch monitor and performance technology. The partnership brings iGolf’s extensive golf course mapping and geospatial intelligence into Rapsodo Courses, the company’s proprietary golf simulation experience for the MLM2PRO™ Mobile Launch Monitor + Golf Simulator. Together, the companies are connecting Rapsodo’s advanced shot-measurement technology with iGolf’s global course data to give golfers access to thousands of virtual golf courses for practice, play, and competition from virtually anywhere.
Rapsodo has built its golf platform around making sophisticated performance technology accessible to everyday golfers. The company’s flagship MLM2PRO combines radar tracking with dual-camera technology to measure and analyze up to 15 golf metrics, including ball speed, carry distance, spin rate, spin axis, club path, and angle of attack. Impact Vision captures the moment of contact at 240 frames per second, while Shot Vision provides swing replay and shot-tracer functionality. The result is a platform that allows golfers to understand not only where a shot finished, but the ball and club characteristics that produced it.
The relationship with iGolf extends that performance experience into virtual golf through Rapsodo Courses. Using iGolf’s extensive global course mapping database as the underlying course-data foundation, Rapsodo has built a simulation environment offering more than 30,000 virtual golf courses, ranging from recognized championship venues to golfers’ local municipal courses. Instead of limiting simulation to a small collection of destinations, Rapsodo Courses gives MLM2PRO users the ability to experience an expansive library of real-world golf environments directly through the Rapsodo platform.
That combination creates an important connection between performance analysis and actual play. Golfers can use the same MLM2PRO that measures their shots on the range or in an indoor practice environment to play full virtual rounds, practice on familiar courses, or experience courses they may never have the opportunity to visit in person. Rapsodo Courses also supports additional ways to play and compete, including Closest to the Pin, Best Ball, and Scramble formats, extending the platform beyond individual practice into a more complete virtual golf experience.
For iGolf, the partnership demonstrates the expanding role of its course intelligence beyond traditional GPS applications. Translating real-world golf course information into digital environments requires detailed spatial data capable of supporting course layouts, green geometry, hazards, elevation, and other characteristics that define how a golf hole plays. iGolf’s more than two decades of mapping experience provides Rapsodo with a scalable course-data foundation as the company continues expanding Rapsodo Courses and the simulation capabilities of the MLM2PRO.
The partnership also complements Rapsodo’s broader approach to golf simulation. In addition to its proprietary Rapsodo Courses experience, MLM2PRO supports integrations with third-party simulation platforms including GSPro, E6, and Awesome Golf. Rapsodo Courses provides a deeply integrated option within Rapsodo’s own ecosystem, connecting the company’s launch monitor hardware, shot data, performance tools, and virtual course play through a unified platform.
“Rapsodo has done an exceptional job of bringing sophisticated launch monitor and simulation technology to a much broader community of golfers. What makes this partnership particularly exciting for iGolf is the opportunity to help connect the incredible amount of performance data captured by the MLM2PRO with thousands of real-world golf courses. Rapsodo Courses demonstrates exactly how our mapping intelligence can help bridge the gap between practicing a golf shot and actually experiencing the game, whether that golfer is in their garage, at the range, or preparing to play a course anywhere in the world,” said Ryan Kimberling, Vice President of Sales & Strategy at iGolf.
As Rapsodo continues expanding its golf ecosystem, the partnership provides a foundation for an increasingly connected relationship between measurement, improvement, and virtual play. By combining Rapsodo’s expertise in capturing and analyzing the golf shot with iGolf’s expertise in digitally mapping the places where those shots are played, the two companies are helping create a simulation experience that makes real-world golf more accessible regardless of location, season, or schedule.
