SAN DIEGO, CA – November 15, 2024 – iGolf is excited to partner with SwingWise, an AI-powered golf course management platform designed to help golfers lower their scores by making smarter decisions rather than simply changing their swings. Through the partnership, SwingWise will integrate iGolf’s industry-leading golf course mapping and GPS data into its platform, providing the accurate course intelligence needed to power personalized hole plans, shot recommendations, and strategic guidance from tee to green.

At the center of the SwingWise experience is Connor, the company’s AI-powered caddie. Rather than simply presenting golfers with distances and course information, Connor is designed to turn that information into actionable strategy tailored to the individual player. SwingWise describes its approach as odds-based golf strategy, using a golfer’s capabilities to help determine how a hole should be played and provide personalized advice throughout the round. The platform’s Caddie Play functionality includes complete hole plans, individual shot advice, recovery-shot guidance, layup recommendations, and considerations for stance and lie.

SwingWise was founded by Ken Zinkand, a lifelong golfer who developed the concept after focusing more extensively on course management and strategic decision-making in his own game. That experience became the foundation for what SwingWise calls Golf Theory Optimal, an approach centered on helping golfers improve scoring through better decisions and course management. SwingWise reports that Zinkand reduced his own handicap from 12.9 to 2.2 after adopting the strategic approach that ultimately inspired the platform.

Through its partnership with iGolf, SwingWise gains a global course-data foundation for delivering that strategy in the context of the actual golf hole. With more than 40,000 mapped golf courses across 177 countries, iGolf provides detailed course layouts, green mapping, and geospatial intelligence that can give an AI caddie the spatial context necessary to understand where a golfer is playing and the characteristics of the hole in front of them. Rather than treating course data as a standalone GPS feature, the partnership allows that information to become an input into the decision-making experience SwingWise is building.

The relationship also supports SwingWise’s Yardage Book functionality. Golfers can develop an AI-tailored course plan before playing, edit that strategy, add their own notes, and save the resulting plan for future rounds. Combined with Caddie Play, the platform is designed to create continuity between preparation and execution — helping a golfer arrive at the course with a plan and then receive contextual guidance as the round unfolds.

The partnership represents an emerging application for iGolf’s course intelligence as artificial intelligence moves golf technology beyond displaying information and toward interpreting it. Traditional GPS technology can tell a golfer where the green is and how far away it is. Platforms such as SwingWise are working toward answering the next question: given the golfer’s individual capabilities and the golf hole in front of them, what is the smartest way to play it? Combining SwingWise’s AI-driven strategy with iGolf’s detailed understanding of the golf course creates a foundation for increasingly personalized course-management experiences.

“SwingWise is taking course intelligence and asking a more sophisticated question than simply ‘How far do I have?’ Their focus is on helping the golfer determine what they should actually do with that information. By combining Connor’s personalized strategy with iGolf’s understanding of the golf course, we can provide the context needed to help golfers make smarter decisions from tee to green. We’re excited to partner with Ken and the SwingWise team as they continue developing this next generation of AI-powered course management,” said Ryan Kimberling, Vice President of Sales & Strategy at iGolf.
